Wiki/Start/Getting started

From a blank save to your first title.

Starting a career is a handful of choices. Pick a mode, pick a world, and the game teaches the rest inside your own save as you play your first season.

Pick a mode#

Both start from the home screen, run on the same simulation and work in every world.

Start a manager career#

Three choices, then you are in your first week.

  1. 01
    Choose a world
Every world brings its own teams, players, modes and season format. Browse Official worlds, Your worlds from the editor, or Community worlds other players published. Car ball and sports worlds are free to browse; starting a career in one needs Sandbox Pro Pro.
  2. 02
    Pick your club
Filter by region, and where the world has a lower tier, choose whether to start there or in the top league. One club is marked as a good first pick. You can also build your own club, as an expansion team or in place of an existing one.
  3. 03
    Name your manager and start
One screen: your name (filled in from your account), where the save lives (cloud or this device), and career settings folded away for when you want them. Press Start and the season loads.

Create your player#

You start as an unsigned free agent in a world's pre-season and work your way onto a roster.

  1. 01
    World
Start in a world's amateur tier and climb to the pro league, or pick a pro-only world and try to break straight into the top.
  2. 02
    Role
Pick your position from the roles that world uses. Your starting build is tuned to it; you can request a role switch later in the career.
  3. 03
    Name
Your tag is what casters, teammates and the stat sheet call you. Customize holds the optional extras: your playstyle, how hyped a prospect you start as (Top Prospect, Sleeper or Unknown Grinder) and save settings.

Rather than create someone new, you can also take over a player already on a world's roster from the player screen.

The first-season guide#

A small guide docks in the corner of your first season and teaches by having you do the real thing.

Each step is an action in your own save, like playing a match or making an offer. It ticks itself off when the save shows you did it, wherever you did it from. Steps adapt to your situation: if your roster is full it teaches you to read the market instead of asking you to sign someone.

Manager
Your first week (meet the squad, pick a game plan, advance, play), then building the club (standings, offers, staff, player growth).
MyPlayer
Making your name (earn a roster spot at tryouts, play your first match, advance), then growing your game (training focus, growth, followers, your first paycheck).
Both
Join in: the weekly challenge, the Discord and adding friends.
Tip
Skip it any time from the guide itself. It stays off until you turn it back on in Account settings, and once you finish a mode's guide it will not teach that mode again on your next save.

The weekly loop#

A season moves one week at a time, and every week runs the same rhythm.

01

Prepare

Set your lineup and strategy as a manager, or your training focus as a player. Answer the inbox, work the market, check the table.
02

Play

When there is a match this week, watch it live in 3D or sim it from the top bar. Either way the result counts.
03

Advance

The whole league moves on: other results land, contracts tick, players grow and new messages arrive.
Sandbox Pro
Play your matches yourself
In MyPlayer, every match offers Play in 3D or Watch match. Playing puts you in control of your own player in the live match, in every game type. Watching is free for everyone; playing needs Sandbox Pro.
